On 1 June 2005, CPFilms launched
PrecisionCut, its computerized film cutting
system into the international market.
Offered as a turnkey package,
PrecisionCut is CPFilms’ proprietary
system for digitally imaging and cutting
patterns for window glass and
auto paint protection films. The complete
package, intended for used by its
LLumar Distributor and Dealer network,
is comprised of the PrecisionCut software pre-loaded onto a Dell desktop computer and a 60” Graphtec plotter customized for CPFilms by
the manufacturer. The databases of automotive window and paint protection patterns are vast and everexpanding as new car models are introduced. Software upgrades and updates to the regional pattern databases are downloadable over the Internet. According to CPFilms, in addition
to auto glass and paint protection film
patterns, users are able to cut custom
decorative graphics for flat glass applications
from coloured or metallized
films (text, logos, and complex images),
heavy gauge safety and security films (up to 175 microns in thickness), and standard vinyl. A
pattern creation module permits the user to both import vector graphics files and build/edit
designs with CAD functionality.
